Your Budget View Now Shows What You've Allocated and What's Left

Dev Updates Apr 9, 2026 2 min read

Budgeting only works when you can see the full picture without having to do the math yourself. This update brings that picture into focus directly in the Budget tab.

Your Categories, Now With Real Numbers

The Budget view has been rebuilt to show your category groups alongside the amounts you’ve allocated and what remains for the current month. Each category row includes a progress bar so you can see at a glance whether you’re comfortably within your budget or getting close to the edge. The month picker has moved to the top right of the screen, making it easier to switch between months without losing context. These changes replace the placeholder view that was there before, which means the Budget tab is now genuinely useful.

Balances That Reflect the Right Time Period

The numbers you see are filtered to transactions within the selected month, so your remaining balances reflect what’s actually happened this month rather than pulling in older activity. This matters when you’re checking in mid-month to decide whether you can afford to spend more in a given category. The math is done for you, and it’s scoped to the period you’re looking at.

Under the Hood, Done Right

We’ve also added unit tests for the logic that calculates your budgeted category groups. That may not change what you see directly, but it means the numbers you’re shown are being held to a higher standard of accuracy as the app continues to develop.

This update marks a meaningful step in making JABA’s Budget tab a place you’ll actually want to check in on regularly.
